Fidelis Odogwu (b. 1970) was born in Edo State. He studied sculpture at Auchi Polytechnic and graduated in 1991. His broad oeuvre encompasses a calm academic realism, and the fluidity and abstract expressionism of classical African sculpture, known for its geometric and architectonic volumes; these elements are at once drawn together by his minimalist shapes and strong diagonals.

Odogwu’s recent experiments blur the boundaries between painting and sculpture. They represent his agitations for harmonious co-existence and the recognition of the importance of family and societal values such as respect and hierarchy, against the prevailing acts of increased terrorism in Nigeria.

Fidelis Odogwu has participated in several important group exhibitions in Nigeria and abroad and his works can be found in significant collections. He is a member of the Society of Nigerian Artists and the Guild of Fine Artists, Nigeria.
