Duke Asidere’s (b. 1961, Lagos) work engages with contemporary African politics. Through visual metaphors, he comments on the every day human drama that surrounds him; political, social, pyschological or cultural. Furthermore, he adds an element of surprise to these sketches of human drama by infusing them with irony and humor.

He graduated from Ahmadu Bello University in 1988, with a BA in Fine Art. He earned a Masters in Fine art from the same institution in 1990. From 1990 to 1995, Asidere lectured in painting, drawing and art history at the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi.

Asidere has participated in several solo and group exhibitions, both locally and internationally.
